UniLodge Rope Acces Sign Installation

Alltech Industrial Abseilers was recently contracted to install two enormous 11m long aluminum signs at the new UniLodge high rise building in Toowong. The Alltech team took on the task with gusto and enthusiasm, as per usual. After all, having installed hundreds of signs and advertising banners of all styles, the toughest to reach locations are what we relish. Our team has years of expertise and skillsets prepared for any high-rise sign installation project, and the Toowong undertaking was no different.Wood & Wood manufactured the signage, weighting in at over 400kg each, and it was no piece of cake, but Alltech Industrial Abseilers handled the large sign install with precision and ease. The McNab constructed building was coming to a completion and was fitted out with all the abseil rated anchor points needed for the rope access sign installation.

Installing signs using rope access is a specialized skill that requires professional tradesmen with a successful history of having installed various sorts of signs and banners, but also training and certification to carry out the work on ropes.

Our abseilers are highly trained in industrial rope access, which gives them the knowledge and confidence to deliver jobs with precision— these aren’t just blokes on ropes.

The rope access team were able to provide a safe and neat installation of the Toowong UniLodge sign, on time, and within a reasonable price range. Scaffolding and cranes can get expensive, which is why we prefer to use rope access for our sign installs.

It gets the job done fast and efficiently, whilst also keeping our workmen safe. This allows them to install everything from sail track banners to cable tensioned banners and ACM lettering, and even illuminated signs – all via industrial rope access.

As per rope access standards, the team rigged their ropes to two separate concrete mount anchor points and set up a haul system on separate anchors that would be used to hoist the gigantic sign into place.

Once the team finished all rigging, 3 rope access technicians abseiled into position from the top of the building, whilst 2 other team members used a winch and pulley system from the ground to haul the system into place.

Once in place, hammer drills were used to create holes for the fixes that would hold the sign in place, and after careful measurement, the sign was secured into place – one bolt at a time. After 2 long days, the team of five tradesmen had successfully installed the new Unilodge signs, complete with lighting, and we think you’d agree, the result looks sensational!
